I hope you dig this preset! This is a sample I’ve created to introduce how I like to program Helix/HX Stomp presets. In total, there are 22 different parameter changes in addition to the normal bypass functions of each foot switch in this preset. This creates an extremely versatile preset and lets you get the absolute most out of the HX Stomp. All of the footswitches in the All-In-One presets are interactive, meaning that often times they will be changing parameters across the entire preset at the same time as they’re engaging a new effect. It’s like snapshot mode, but better because instead of only having a few snapshots per preset, now you can combine different combinations of foot switches 1-5 to get over 25 different combinations.

The Divided By 13 FTR is a bit like if a Marshall Plexi and a Vox AC30 had a child. Click on "Detailed notes on how the footswitches work" to the right for more info on the entire preset.

“Complete preset” means that this preset is designed to cover the role of your entire rig. All you need is your guitar and your Helix device since this preset will cover all your needs for amp simulation, overdrive tones, chorus/vibrato, spring reverb, and delay. The presets in this bundle have been meticulously dialed in and tested for live performance with a full band. Use it on your HX Stomp for a compact, simple solution for going direct to a PA system or FRFR speaker, or take these 8 blocks and build your own custom preset around it on the larger Helix devices.

Each of these presets are limited to a maximum of 8 blocks, and as such will work on all of the following products:

*Helix Native users please note that all of my presets exist in stompswitch mode. Helix Native is set up to prefer snapshots, however you can use these presets in stompswitch mode just fine. Check out the Helix Native manual pages 14 & 15 for information on loading these presets in HC (hardware compatibility) mode. When prompted, make sure you select HX Stomp XL as the original device since that is what I create these presets on.

I tune each of my presets through different front of house systems and studio monitors to ensure they perform consistently across whatever medium you'll be using. I proof them in rehearsal and during loud live performances. I think you'll find that they cut through the mix well and are incredibly versatile on account of how they're designed in footswitch mode. With that said, you probably do not own the same guitar as I do and might not be playing through the same sound system. You are completely entitled to make minor adjustments as needed! Actually, you should expect to make a few small adjustments so that these presets may better suit your playing style, instruments, and whatever platform you’re amplifying the Helix through.

Trust your ear. If it sounds good and cuts well in a band mix, then it is good.
The blank slate is an aggressively voiced edge-of-breakup tone that responds well to your guitar’s volume control and your playing dynamics. Dig in for a medium-gain crunch tone. The basic tone of this preset is made up of the Divided Duo amp head and the Deluxe cab. There is an LA Studio Compressor always on at the end of the signal path to keep the sustain up a bit, though the settings are very mild. The spring reverb is always on, but can be toggled between two distinct sounds with footswitch 4. This preset was designed with HX Stomp users in mind (as are all of my presets, so the core tones are contained in footswitches 1-5. For these presets, I’ve also added a Phaser (FS6), alternate compression settings (FS7), and a solo boost (FS8) for more advanced control on the larger Helix units.

Footswitch 1 brings in the Centaur (Klon) overdrive model. In its stock setting, I have it set to introduce a touch of gain and sparkle. Footswitch 2 also control the Cut, Presence, and Master volume controls in the amp block for the best results. When combined with footswitch 2, the Klon backs down on gain and boosts the mids and level control to place nicely with an amp that is now considerably overdriven - great for leads.

Footswitch 2 toggles between edge-of-breakup and crunch rhythm tones in the Divided By 13 amp model by adjusting the Bias, Drive 2, and Channel Volume controls. When combined with footswitch, you get a soaring lead tone with a bit of a volume boost.

Footswitch 3 engages the Elephant Man (Electro Harmonix Memory Man) delay, which is set stock on chorus mode. The delay tone is set up to work well with both rhythm and lead playing. It’ll fill up the space without getting in the way of your playing. By engaging footswitch 5 (to be used with tremolo), it switches the modulation mode to vibrato and increases the depth slightly while also lowering the mix.

Footswitch 4 toggles between mild and more noticeable reverb tones using the new Hot Springs model. I’m changing the Dwell, Spring Count, High Cut, and Mix parameters to achieve this.

Footswitch 5 engages an Optical Tremolo, similar to what you would find on a Vox-style amplifier. It also favorably affects a few parameters in the delay block if you ever wanted to use the two effects simultaneously.

Footswitch 6 engages a simple EVH-style Phaser tone - the speed is set low on a Phase 90 model.

Footswitch 7 changes the Gain, Emphasis, and Level parameters in LA Studio Comp for more compression.

Footswitch 8 is a solo boost. It moves the microphone closer to the cabinet and introduces a slight low cut.
